Description

Hand-cast at Doing Goods in India from 100% recycled brass, with each piece individually polished. The warm golden sheen highlights the hare's long ears and delicate body details, and the slightly irregular finish means no two hooks are quite alike. A playful cross between an everyday object and a brass figurine — in line with Doing Goods' fable-inspired animal universe.

Care and FAQShow less

Care and maintenance

Brass naturally develops a patina over time. To keep the shiny look, polish the hook with a soft cloth and a mild brass cleaner.

Frequently asked questions

How do you mount a brass hook on the wall?

The Hare hook is mounted with screws through the hole in the back plate. On plaster or concrete walls, wall plugs are recommended for optimal durability. On wood, the screw can go in directly.

What is the difference between solid brass and recycled brass?

Recycled brass is melted down from used brass — the same material and properties as new brass, but with a significantly lower climate footprint. Doing Goods uses 100% recycled brass in their animal hooks.

How do you care for brass so it doesn't turn dull?

Wipe the hook with a soft cloth and use a mild brass cleaner a few times a year. Avoid harsh cleaning agents and abrasive sponges. If you want a patina look, no maintenance is needed.

Is a brass hook with a hare motif a good christening gift?

Yes, brass animal hooks make a durable christening or birthday gift for children. The hare suits both boys' and girls' rooms and can be used from babyhood into the teenage years — first for bags, later for clothes and jewelry.

Where are Doing Goods' brass hooks made?

Doing Goods produces their brass animals in India with local craftsmen under fair working conditions. Each hook is hand-cast and polished, resulting in small variations in finish from piece to piece.

Handmade & unique product

Most of my products are handmade or hand-painted. This means that there may be variations in color, finish, and minor imperfections. These variations are a natural part of the handmade look and make each product unique. Minor differences are therefore not considered defects.
