Description
Woven by hand on traditional looms in India at Doing Goods' small partner weaving mills. The wool is dyed before weaving — this gives deeper colour nuances than dyeing afterwards, and the surface has a slight texture with visible craftsmanship. The cotton backing keeps the crocodile stable on the floor without slipping. A colourful floor piece with the character of handwoven tradition and a playful animal motif.

Care and maintenance
Vacuum on low power with an upholstery attachment — avoid rotating brushes that can pull at the wool threads. For stains: dab gently with a damp cloth and mild soap, never rub.
Frequently asked questions
Where are Doing Goods rugs made?
Doing Goods' animal rugs are handwoven in India at small partner weaving mills under fair-trade conditions. Each rug is woven by hand on traditional looms, which creates small variations in colour and proportions from piece to piece.
What's the difference between pre-dyed wool yarn and wool dyed afterwards?
Pre-dyed wool yarn is dyed before weaving, so the pigment penetrates the fibres and produces deeper, more durable colours. Dyeing afterwards sits more on the surface and fades faster. The crocodile rug is pre-dyed, which explains its rich tones.
Can you have a wool rug in a kids' room?
Yes. Wool is naturally dirt-repellent and static-neutral, which makes it well suited for kids' rooms. The cotton backing keeps the rug stable on the floor so it doesn't slip during play. Vacuum on low power without a rotating brush.
Is the Doing Goods crocodile rug a good gift for a boy?
It's an obvious gift for a boy's room, or as a christening or birthday present for families with young children. The 190 cm long crocodile works both as a play rug and as decoration, and the animal motif appeals broadly, from toddlers to school age.
How do you wash a handwoven wool rug?
The rug must not be machine washed. Stains are treated with a damp cloth and mild soap — dab, never rub. If deep cleaning is needed, a professional rug cleaner familiar with wool and naturally dyed yarn is recommended.
