Description

Each knob is cast individually at a family workshop in Moradabad, where brass work is passed down through generations. The recycled brass takes on visible casting marks and small colour differences — fingerprints of the manual process. The warm yellowish tone darkens over time and develops a patina. A small floral detail that brings Indian craft tradition into modern furniture design.

Care and FAQShow less

Care and maintenance

Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth. The brass naturally develops a patina over time — speed up the process with vinegar or preserve the golden tone with clear lacquer.

Frequently asked questions

How do you fit a Doing Goods cabinet knob?

Drill an 8 mm hole through the drawer front or door, pass the thread through and tighten with the included nut on the back. The thread is 3 cm long and can be shortened with a hacksaw if the front is thinner.

Can brass knobs be used in the kitchen?

Yes, brass knobs work on kitchen cabinets and drawers. Be aware that the brass naturally develops a patina over time, especially where it is touched often. This gives a living surface — or can be slowed down with clear lacquer.

What is the difference between solid and plated brass?

Solid brass — like this knob — is cast in pure alloy all the way through and develops genuine patina. Plated brass is a thin coating on another metal that can wear off. Doing Goods uses 100% recycled solid brass.

How do you care for brass so it does not darken?

Wipe with a dry cloth after use. If you want to preserve the light golden tone, you can polish with brass polish or seal the surface with clear lacquer. If you want to speed up the patina, vinegar can promote oxidation.

Are Doing Goods knobs sustainable?

Yes. The brass comes from recycled industrial components and is cast at a family workshop in Moradabad, India, where Doing Goods works directly with the artisans. This ensures fair pay and good working conditions — and each knob becomes a piece of reused material with a new function.
