Description

Hand-tufted in India by local artisans under fair trade certified conditions at Doing Goods. The front is 100% wool with a naturally tufted texture that adds depth to the lines of the coat and a soft, warm surface — the cotton backing keeps the shape stable, both on the floor and on the wall. A colourful animal motif with a safari feel that breaks up the neutral surfaces of a nursery or hallway.

Care and maintenance

Shake the rug outdoors or vacuum gently on low power. Remove stains with a damp cloth and mild soap — air dry lying flat. Avoid machine washing.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a hand-tufted and a machine-woven wool rug?

Hand-tufted rugs like this one from Doing Goods are made by punching wool yarn by hand through a backing, giving a softer, more three-dimensional surface. Machine-woven rugs have a flatter structure and less variation. Hand-tufting also means each rug varies slightly in appearance.

Can the tiger head rug be hung on the wall?

Yes. The cotton backing makes it stable and easy to fix with two discreet brass pins or small nails through the edges. Weighing around 150 grams, it is light enough to hang securely above a bed, a desk or in a cot corner.

How do I clean a hand-tufted wool rug?

Shake it outdoors regularly or vacuum gently on low power. Remove stains with a damp cloth and mild soap — the rug should air dry lying flat. Machine washing destroys the tufting and is not recommended.

Is a tiger head rug from Doing Goods a good christening or birthday gift?

Yes, it is a popular gift for christenings, first birthdays and naming ceremonies. The fair trade certified wool craftsmanship and the playful animal motif make it a durable gift that works both as wall decoration above the cot and as a small cushion later on.

What does fair trade certified production at Doing Goods mean?

Doing Goods works with workshops in India where the artisans work under fair trade certified conditions with proper pay, safe environments and no child labour. Each rug is hand-tufted locally, ensuring both quality and an ethical production chain.
