Description
Hand-formed in stoneware by &Klevering's own ceramics team, with each piece carrying small variations in glaze and finish. The relief pattern mimics the fish's scales, and the glaze runs from coral orange through white to light blue — a nod to both the plaice's belly and the colours of the sea. A figurative kitchen platter in a Dutch design tradition where everyday objects are allowed to be pictorial.

What is the difference between stoneware and porcelain for serving platters?
Stoneware is fired at a higher temperature than earthenware and is more robust and heavier than porcelain. This gives the platter a stable weight on the table and makes it less delicate in daily use, while porcelain is typically thinner and more translucent.
Is the plaice platter from &Klevering dishwasher safe?
Yes, the platter is dishwasher safe. Hand washing is recommended, however, to preserve the colours and finish of the glaze for as long as possible, especially because each platter is hand-formed with subtle glaze variations.
How large is a whole plaice relative to the platter?
The platter is 37 cm long and 29.5 cm wide, which comfortably holds an ordinary portion-sized plaice or mackerel. The depth of 3 cm also makes it suitable for shellfish with stock or marinade.
