Description
The platter is made in Italy from hand-painted faience, with each piece decorated by hand. The lemons are painted in clear yellow tones with green leaves, and the brushstrokes create small variations from platter to platter — no two are exactly alike. The motif draws on the classic southern Italian ceramic tradition of the Amalfi Coast, where the lemon has long been a defining decorative motif.
Care and FAQShow less
Care and maintenance
Hand washing is recommended to preserve the hand-painted colours and patterns for as long as possible. Avoid scouring pads and harsh cleaning agents.
Frequently asked questions
What is Italian faience?
Faience is tin-glazed ceramic with a soft, slightly porous clay core and a white glaze that is painted by hand before firing. Italian faience — particularly from Amalfi and Deruta — is known for clear colours and motifs such as lemons, olives and flowers.
Is the lemon platter dishwasher safe?
Hand washing is recommended. Over time, the hand-painted decoration can become dull or fade in the dishwasher, where heat and salt wear down the glaze.
What is the difference between faience and stoneware?
Faience is fired at a lower temperature and has a softer, more porous core with a tin glaze, while stoneware is hard-fired and more durable. In return, faience delivers the clear, vivid colours that characterise Italian ceramics.
Is a lemon platter a good hostess gift?
Yes, a hand-painted lemon platter is an obvious hostess gift — especially for dinner hosts who love Italian cuisine or set colourful tables. It is practical, decorative and works both for serving and as decoration.
What can you serve on an elongated 29 x 18 cm platter?
The size suits antipasti, charcuterie, bruschetta, fresh fruit, a cheese board or baked goods. The elongated shape makes it ideal for arranging several small servings side by side.

Handmade & unique product
Most of my products are handmade or hand-painted. This means that there may be variations in color, finish, and minor imperfections. These variations are a natural part of the handmade look and make each product unique. Minor differences are therefore not considered defects.
