This pitcher comes from an Italian ceramic workshop specializing in fruit-shaped pitchers since 1965. The third generation of artisans shapes and hand-paints each pitcher using the same techniques as the founder. The ceramics are fired at high temperatures, giving the distinctive bright red color and green leaves. Because each pitcher is hand-painted, color shades may vary slightly from piece to piece.

The pitcher holds 1.2 liters and features an ergonomic handle that fits comfortably in your hand. The spout is designed to pour precisely without dripping. The ceramic is glazed inside, making it suitable for both cold and hot beverages. The exterior surface is slightly textured to mimic the natural surface of a strawberry.

Care and maintenance

Wash the pitcher by hand with mild dish soap and lukewarm water. Avoid the dishwasher, as high temperatures and strong detergents can wear down the hand-painted finish over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between this strawberry pitcher and other fruit-shaped pitchers from the same workshop?

The strawberry pitcher is 25 cm tall and holds 1.2 liters. The workshop also produces lemon, pear, and pomegranate pitchers in various sizes. All follow the same hand-painting technique, but the strawberry pitcher has the most detailed surface with small seeds painted individually.

Can I use the strawberry pitcher for hot drinks like tea or coffee?

Yes, the ceramic is glazed inside and suitable for both cold and hot liquids. However, avoid pouring boiling water directly into a cold pitcher, as sudden temperature changes can damage the ceramic. Allow the pitcher to acclimate to room temperature first.

Is a hand-painted Italian strawberry pitcher a good hostess gift?

Yes, the pitcher makes a great hostess gift because it is both decorative and functional. It stands out from standard gifts, and the Italian craftsmanship gives it an authenticity that is appreciated. Consider pairing it with a bottle of Italian lemonade or a set of matching ceramic cups.

How do I maintain the hand-painting to ensure it lasts as long as possible?

Always wash by hand with mild soapy water and a soft sponge. Avoid abrasive sponges and harsh chemicals. Wipe the pitcher dry immediately instead of air drying, as water spots can leave deposits on the painted surface.

Why do colors vary between different strawberry pitchers?

Each pitcher is hand-painted by individual artisans, and the ceramic glaze reacts slightly differently with each firing depending on oven placement and temperature. These natural variations are a hallmark of genuine handmade ceramics and make each piece unique.
