This cabinet knob is cast from recycled brass by Doing Goods, a Dutch brand collaborating with artisans in Nepal. The monkey measures 4.5 x 5 x 6 cm and is mounted on a brass screw, allowing installation on drawer fronts, cabinet doors, or directly on the wall as a hook. Because the brass is recycled, each knob shows slight variations in tone — ranging from golden to deeper bronze shades.

The brass knob comes with a screw and can hold lightweight items such as keys, jewelry, or small bags when used as a hook. Doing Goods offers several animal designs in the same series, so you can mix and match multiple styles on one cabinet or drawer.

Care and maintenance

Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Brass naturally develops a patina over time, darkening in color — you can polish it with brass cleaner if you prefer a shiny finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between right-facing and left-facing monkey cabinet knobs?

The orientation indicates which way the monkey is looking. Right-facing means the monkey looks to the right, left-facing means it looks to the left. Both versions have the same size and finish.

Can the monkey cabinet knob be used as a hook for heavy items?

The knob can hold lightweight items like keys, jewelry, or small fabric bags. For heavy coats or bags, we recommend a larger hook with a wider mount.

How do I install the brass knob on a drawer?

Drill a hole through the drawer front, insert the screw from behind, and fasten the knob from the front. The hole size depends on the screw thickness — start with a small drill bit and enlarge if necessary.

Is the monkey cabinet knob a good gift for christenings or children's birthdays?

Yes, it’s popular as a gift for children. Many buy several animal knobs from Doing Goods as a set, so the child can have a personalized cabinet or dresser with different animals.

Does recycled brass turn green over time?

Brass can develop a patina and darken but rarely turns green indoors. Verdigris typically occurs outdoors with exposure to moisture and rain. You can maintain the golden finish with brass cleaner.
