Large mirrors
Large mirrors are an eye-catcher that turns a flat wall into a space with depth and character. At Dims Studio, large mirrors are colourful wall mirrors from the Dutch brand &Klevering, cast in polyresin with wavy, sculptural edges and a genuine mirror glass at the centre. Here's a guide to shapes, colours, sizes, material, placement and styling, so you can find the mirror that best suits your wall and your interior.
Shapes and design: zigzag, churros and teardrop
What all our large mirrors have in common is the wavy, handcrafted edge that turns each mirror into a standalone piece of art on the wall, whether it hangs alone or together with posters and other wall details. The edge is cast in polyresin, while the mirror surface itself is genuine mirror glass. Below you can see the three designs in the range.
Zigzag mirror: sharp points and graphic expression
The Zigzag mirror has an edge broken up into sharp, repeated points all the way round, giving the mirror a graphic, almost sun-shaped expression. The shape is round, and the design comes in three colours: yellow, pink and blush. The Zigzag model in yellow measures 35 cm in diameter, while the pink and blush models are larger, at 50 cm and 52.5 x 31.5 cm respectively. The graphic look makes the Zigzag mirror a natural choice if you want a mirror that works as a standalone art object.
Churros mirror: soft, sculptural waves
The Churros mirror has a rounder, more sculptural edge that curves in soft waves rather than sharp points, named after the spiral-shaped sweet snack. The design comes in pink and ochre, both round in shape. Churros in pink measures 44.5 cm in diameter, while Churros in ochre is slightly smaller at 33.5 cm in diameter. The soft edge makes the Churros mirror a good choice if the rest of the room already has plenty of angular furniture or straight lines that the mirror can soften.
Dribble mirror: irregular teardrop shape
The Dribble mirror stands out from the other two with an irregular, oval, teardrop-shaped silhouette that breaks with the classic round mirror. In the range, Dribble comes in purple, measuring 41.5 x 29.5 cm. The shape suits walls where you want to avoid a fully symmetrical, round outline, for example in a wall collage together with posters in different formats.
The designs compared
| Design | Edge | Shape | Colours in the range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zigzag | Sharp, repeated points | Round | Yellow, pink, blush |
| Churros | Soft, sculptural waves | Round | Pink, ochre |
| Dribble | Irregular, teardrop-shaped | Oval | Purple |
Material: polyresin and mirror glass
All our large mirrors are made from two materials: an edge cast in polyresin and a mirror surface in genuine mirror glass. Polyresin is a hard, moulded material that makes it possible to create the wavy, sculptural edges that couldn't be achieved in the same way in, for example, wood or metal. At the same time, the material is lighter than a comparable mirror in solid wood or ceramic, which makes it easier to hang. The mirror surface at the centre is genuine mirror glass, so you get a sharp, precise reflection even though the frame is colourful and playful.
How to keep your mirror looking good
- Wipe the mirror glass with a dry or slightly damp, soft cloth. Avoid abrasives and sharp objects on both the glass and the polyresin edge.
- Avoid hanging the mirror somewhere with direct exposure to water, for example right inside a shower niche, as moisture can affect the back of the mirror glass over time.
- Dust the polyresin edge with a dry cloth or a soft brush to preserve the colour and the surface finish.
- Always lift the mirror by the frame, not the glass itself, when moving or hanging it.
Sizes and dimensions of large mirrors
When we talk about large mirrors in this category, we don't mean floor-to-ceiling mirrors, but eye-catching wall mirrors that are noticeably bigger than an ordinary pocket mirror or make-up mirror, designed to take up space and add colour to the wall. The sizes in the range span from around 33.5 cm in diameter to 52.5 cm at the widest point. Here's an overview of all the sizes, so you can easily choose the mirror that suits the space you have.
Large, round mirrors: 44 to 50 cm
The largest round mirrors in the range are the Zigzag mirror in pink with a diameter of 50 cm and the Churros mirror in pink with a diameter of 44.5 cm. Both are large enough to work as a standalone focal point on an otherwise bare wall, for example above a console table in the hallway or above a chest of drawers.
Medium-sized mirrors: 33 to 41 cm
The Zigzag mirror in yellow (35 cm diameter) and the Churros mirror in ochre (33.5 cm diameter) are among the smaller models in the range, while the Dribble mirror in purple, at 41.5 x 29.5 cm, sits in between. The medium-sized mirrors are easier to place on walls with less space, for example beside a door or on a narrow wall between two windows.
Oval and wavy mirrors: 31 to 53 cm
The Zigzag mirror in blush measures 52.5 x 31.5 cm, making it the mirror in the range with the largest overall span. Combined with the wavy edge, it creates the impression of an even bigger mirror than the diameter alone suggests, because the points break up the silhouette and draw the eye beyond the mirror glass itself.
All sizes in one place
| Mirror | Colour | Size | Shape |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zigzag mirror | Yellow | Ø 35 cm | Round |
| Dribble mirror | Purple | 41.5 x 29.5 cm | Oval, teardrop-shaped |
| Churros mirror | Pink | Ø 44.5 cm | Round |
| Zigzag mirror | Pink | Ø 50 cm | Round |
| Zigzag mirror | Blush | 52.5 x 31.5 cm | Round, wavy edge |
| Churros mirror | Ochre | Ø 33.5 cm | Round |
As a rule of thumb, a wall mirror above a console table or chest of drawers should take up around two thirds of the furniture's width, so it neither overwhelms the piece nor looks too small for it.
Colours for different rooms and interior styles
Because our large mirrors come in bold, well-considered colours, choosing the colour becomes almost as important as choosing the shape. Here's some inspiration for how the colours work with different rooms and styles.
Yellow, ochre and warm earth tones
The Zigzag mirror in yellow and the Churros mirror in ochre suit homes with warm, earthy colours such as terracotta, beige and brown. The two mirrors work well in the hallway or kitchen, where a sunny colour accent can give the room energy, especially during the darker months.
Pink and blush
Pink recurs across several of the designs: the Zigzag mirror in pink, the Churros mirror in pink and the Zigzag mirror in blush. The three shades range from bold pink to soft, dusty rose, so you can choose the intensity that suits the room. Blush is the most muted of the three and works well in the bedroom, while the bold pink suits rooms where you want a clear colour statement, for example in the hallway or in a kids' or teen's room.
Purple
The Dribble mirror in purple is the most unconventional colour in the range and suits homes that already play with colour elsewhere, for example in textiles or ceramics. The irregular shape means the mirror works well as a soft counterpoint to straight lines and angular furniture.
How to use large mirrors at home
Besides reflecting light and making rooms feel more alive, a large, colourful mirror also has a decorative function in its own right. Here are our suggestions for how and where to use your large mirrors.
Large mirrors in the hallway
The hallway is the obvious place for a large mirror, both because you get a last check before heading out the door, and because a colourful mirror is one of the first things guests notice. Hang the mirror above a low console table or chest of drawers, ideally together with a key bowl or vase in a colour that echoes the mirror's edge. Also see our range for hallway decor.
Large mirrors in the bedroom
In the bedroom, a mirror above the dresser or beside the bed can offer both function and a calm colour expression, especially if you choose the more muted colours like blush or ochre. A mirror here catches the morning light and brightens the room, without needing to be the dominant element in it.
Large mirrors in the bathroom
A colourful mirror can soften the hard, glossy surfaces of a bathroom. The Churros mirror's round, soft edge and the Zigzag mirror's sharp points both work well above a sink, where they add personality to a room that's otherwise often kept neutral. Just avoid placing the mirror where it will get direct splashes from the shower.
Large mirrors in the living room
In the living room, a large mirror can hang alone as an eye-catcher on an otherwise bare wall, or it can be part of a wall collage together with posters and other wall details. The wavy edge of both the Zigzag and Churros designs makes the mirrors a natural centrepiece that the rest of the wall can be built around. Hung behind the sofa or in the dining room, it reflects both daylight from the windows and the warm light of lamps in the evening, making the room feel bigger and more alive. See more ideas under mirrors.
Large mirrors in the kids' or teen's room
The playful shapes and bold colours make the mirrors a natural choice for a kids' or teen's room, where they can hang above a desk or chest of drawers as a fun, functional detail. The Zigzag mirror in pink or yellow adds a bold colour point that also serves as a useful mirror in the daily routine.

About &Klevering
All our large mirrors are designed by the Dutch brand &Klevering, known for a colourful, playful design language across interior products. &Klevering often works with polyresin for frames and edges, where the material makes it possible to create sculptural, wavy shapes that aren't as easy to achieve in wood or metal. It's the same playful approach that runs through the Zigzag, Churros and Dribble mirrors: classic mirror shapes broken up with an edge that insists on being noticed. The designs also share the idea of being everyday objects you use, not just look at, so the mirror surface is always large enough to be functional, even though the edge draws much of the attention.
Frequently asked questions about large mirrors
What characterises a large mirror at Dims Studio?
Our large mirrors are colourful wall mirrors from &Klevering with a sculptural edge in polyresin and a mirror surface in genuine mirror glass. They measure between 33.5 and 52.5 cm and are designed to be an eye-catcher on the wall, not a discreet, framed mirror.
What shapes do the large mirrors come in?
The range includes three designs: Zigzag with a sharp, jagged edge, Churros with a soft, wavy edge, and Dribble with an irregular, teardrop-shaped silhouette.
What colours can I choose from?
The mirrors come in yellow, purple, pink (in two designs), blush and ochre, so you can match the mirror to the room's existing colour palette or use it as a contrast colour.
How big is the largest mirror in the range?
The largest size in the range is the Zigzag mirror in blush at 52.5 x 31.5 cm, while the Zigzag mirror in pink has the largest diameter at 50 cm.
How small is the smallest mirror in the range?
The smallest mirror is the Churros mirror in ochre, with a diameter of 33.5 cm.
What material are the mirrors made of?
The edge is cast in polyresin, while the mirror surface at the centre is genuine mirror glass.
Can the mirrors be hung both horizontally and vertically?
The shape of several of the mirrors, including the oval models, means they can be hung in whichever orientation best suits the wall and the space.
Where should I place a large, colourful mirror?
The hallway, bedroom and living room are the most obvious rooms. In the hallway you get a practical last check, in the bedroom a calm way to catch the light, and in the living room an eye-catcher that can stand alone or be part of a wall collage.
How close to a piece of furniture should the mirror hang?
A good rule of thumb is that the mirror should take up around two thirds of the width of the furniture it hangs above, so it looks neither too big nor too small in relation to the piece.
Can a colourful mirror be used in a minimalist home?
Yes. A single, colourful mirror can work as the one deliberate colour point in an otherwise calm, neutral home, without it becoming too much.
How do I clean the mirror's glass and edge?
Wipe the mirror glass with a dry or slightly damp, soft cloth, and dust the polyresin edge with a dry cloth or a soft brush. Avoid abrasives.
Do the mirrors suit the bathroom?
Yes, but avoid hanging them where they'll get direct splashes from the shower, as moisture can affect the back of the mirror glass over time.
