Materials: wool and cotton
Our rugs come in two main materials, each suited to different rooms and purposes.
Wool
Most animal rugs are hand-tufted in wool. Hand tufting means the pattern is made with a tufting gun, where the yarn is shot into a backing fabric in the desired pattern. This gives a dense, soft surface that can be detailed with texture and colour transitions, as the many animal motifs are good examples of. Wool is also a hard-wearing material well suited to the floor.
Cotton
The chindi rugs, bath mats and doormats are in cotton. Cotton is light, breathes well and is easier to keep clean than wool, making it an obvious choice for the bathroom and hallway, where the rug is often exposed to water and moisture.

Caring for wool rugs
The hand-tufted wool rugs should not be machine washed. Shake the rug regularly to remove dust and fluff, and vacuum it gently on low suction, preferably without a rotating brush, so the yarn doesn't get pulled loose. Avoid direct sunlight for extended periods, as it can fade the strong colours in the animal motifs.
