Doing Goods creates the Heritage Santana rug in collaboration with Indian weavers who use traditional techniques. The wool fibers are naturally dirt-repellent and elastic, making the rug durable for everyday use. The cotton backing provides stability and prevents slipping on smooth floors. Each rug is individually handwoven, so color intensity and details vary slightly from piece to piece.

The tiger motif is inspired by vintage zoological illustrations, depicting the tiger in full length with detailed striped fur in shades of orange, black, and white. The rug’s size of 88 x 174 cm makes it suitable as a runner in the entryway, in front of the bed, or under the coffee table. The natural properties of wool regulate temperature, keeping the rug cool in summer and warm in winter.

Care and maintenance

Vacuum regularly with low suction in the direction of the wool fibers. For stains: gently blot with a damp cloth and a wool-specific cleaner – avoid rubbing. Professional cleaning is recommended every 1-2 years depending on use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a handwoven and a machine-woven wool rug?

Handwoven rugs feature unique variations in pattern and color intensity because each row is created by the weaver’s hand. Machine-woven rugs are identical from piece to piece. Handweaving also results in a denser, more durable construction as the fibers are packed more tightly during the weaving process.

Does a wool rug from Doing Goods shed?

All new wool rugs shed loose fibers during the first few weeks. Regular vacuuming with low suction gradually removes these fibers. After 4-6 weeks of use, shedding stabilizes significantly. This is normal and a sign of genuine wool.

Can the Heritage Santana rug be used with underfloor heating?

Yes, wool conducts heat well and is compatible with underfloor heating. Keep the temperature below 27°C to preserve the elasticity of the wool fibers. The rug’s 2 cm thickness provides enough insulation to protect the floor heating while still allowing warmth to be felt through the wool.

Is a tiger rug a good housewarming gift?

Yes, the Heritage Santana rug makes a great housewarming gift for those who appreciate colorful details. The 88 x 174 cm size fits most rooms, and Doing Goods’ craftsmanship makes it a meaningful present. Suitable for adults who aren’t afraid of statement decor.

Why do the colors vary between different Heritage Santana rugs?

Because the rugs are handwoven and dyed in small batches. Natural wool dyes absorb color differently depending on wool quality and dye bath temperature. Doing Goods considers these variations part of the craftsmanship – no two rugs are identical.
