The knob is cast from recycled brass and measures 5x4.5x7 cm. The white flower is hand-painted, so each knob varies slightly in appearance. The brass base naturally develops a patina over time, giving it a warm, golden tone. Doing Goods works directly with artisans in India, ensuring fair wages and working conditions. The knob comes with a screw for mounting on cabinets, drawers, or dressers up to about 2 cm thick.

Care and maintenance

Wipe with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners and acidic products, as they can remove the paint or cause the brass to lose its shine faster.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between recycled brass and new brass for knobs?

Recycled brass is melted down from old brass items, making it more sustainable than newly produced brass. The material is just as durable but may have slight color variations because the alloy isn’t completely uniform. This gives each knob a more lively character.

Can brass knobs be used in moist areas like bathrooms?

Yes, brass handles moisture better than iron and steel because it doesn’t rust. However, it can develop a greenish patina (oxidation) over time if exposed to a lot of water. Wipe the knob dry after contact with water to preserve the surface.

Does the screw fit IKEA cabinets and standard dressers?

The screw fits furniture up to about 2 cm thick, covering most IKEA cabinets and standard dressers. If your furniture door is thicker, you’ll need a longer screw, which can be purchased at a hardware store.

Is a flower knob a good gift for a christening or a child’s birthday?

Yes, especially if you give several different knobs from Doing Goods so the child can have a colorful cabinet or dresser. It’s a gift that lasts for many years and can move with the child as they grow. Package them in a small box with a note suggesting to change the knobs together.

Why do Doing Goods knobs vary slightly in appearance?

Because they are hand-cast and hand-painted by individual artisans in India. The mold is the same, but the paint is applied by hand, so the flower’s details and the brass surface are never exactly alike. This is a sign of genuine craftsmanship, not mass production.

Handmade & unique product

Most of my products are handmade or hand-painted. This means that there may be variations in color, finish, and minor imperfections. These variations are a natural part of the handmade look and make each product unique. Minor differences are therefore not considered defects.
