Description
The rug is hand-tufted in pure wool using traditional technique, where the pattern is built up loop by loop. The double-headed tiger draws stripes and facial features in black and white against a warm beige base, whilst the latex reverse keeps the rug in place on the floor. A motif drawn from Tibetan symbolism, where tigerskin stands for wisdom and the two heads for balance.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a tufted and a woven wool rug?
A tufted rug is made by pushing wool yarn through a backing and securing it with latex, giving a dense, soft surface with loops. A woven rug is constructed from crossing threads without a backing layer. Tufting makes the motif more three-dimensional and the rug heavier — ideal for figurative patterns like the Soulmates tiger.
Can the Bongusta Soulmates rug be hung on the wall?
Yes, size S (70 x 120 cm) and M (85 x 157 cm) have soft loops sewn onto the back, so the rug can be hung directly on a hook or rod. The L size is designed for the floor.
How do you care for a hand-tufted wool rug?
Vacuum without a rotating brush so the loops are not pulled out. Blot stains with a damp cloth and a mild wool cleaner — do not rub. Turn the rug a couple of times a year if it sits in sunlight, so it wears evenly.
What does the double-headed tiger symbolise?
The motif comes from Tibetan tradition, where tigerskin represents wisdom and protection. The two heads point to balance between masculine and feminine forces — hence the name Soulmates.
Is the Soulmates rug a good housewarming or wedding gift?
Yes. The double-headed tiger motif, with its meaning of two souls in balance, makes the rug an ideal wedding or couples' housewarming gift. The S size at 70 x 120 cm can lie on the floor and also be hung as a wall textile.
