Description
Quail Ceramics designs its animal figures in England, where each individual panda is painted by hand in stoneware. The round body and the black ear patches give the figure character, and the glazed surface is waterproof all the way up. The panda sits at the crossroads between collector's item and everyday object — a figurative ceramic that holds tulips just as happily as felt-tip pens.
Care and FAQShow less
Care and maintenance
Wipe with a damp cloth. Avoid the dishwasher and soaking, as this can wear down the hand-painted surface.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between stoneware and porcelain?
Stoneware is fired at a higher temperature than porcelain and becomes thicker, more robust and less fragile. Porcelain is thinner and more translucent. Both materials are waterproof, but stoneware has a more earthy, matte finish.
Can the panda vase hold water for fresh flowers?
Yes, the stoneware is waterproof and can hold water for a single flower or small bouquet. Change the water every other day to keep the flower fresh and avoid odour.
Is the Quail panda a good christening gift?
Yes, the 10 cm tall panda is popular as a christening and naming gift. It works both as decoration on the shelf and later as a pencil holder on the desk, so the gift grows with the child.
Can the panda vase be used as a pencil holder?
Yes, the opening at the top fits pencils, markers, pens and scissors. At a height of 10 cm, ordinary writing tools stand stable without tipping the figure over.
Why does the colour of the Quail figures vary?
Each figure is painted by hand, so brushstrokes, eye placement and shadows vary slightly from one piece to another. It is not a fault but part of the craft — your panda is a little bit unique.

Handmade & unique product
Most of my products are handmade or hand-painted. This means that there may be variations in color, finish, and minor imperfections. These variations are a natural part of the handmade look and make each product unique. Minor differences are therefore not considered defects.
