Description
Kersten casts the base in terrazzo — marble chips mixed with binder, polished smooth so each piece gets its own grain pattern of light and dark stone. The round mirror surface sits in a slim metal frame anchored in the base, which weighs around 400-500 g and keeps the mirror stable even when you lean in. A crafted nod to 1970s Italian terrazzo tradition in pocket format.
Care and FAQShow less
Care and maintenance
Wipe the terrazzo base with a damp cloth — avoid vinegar, citric acid and abrasive cleaners, as acid etches marble. Clean the mirror glass with ordinary glass cleaner.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between terrazzo and marble?
Marble is a solid natural stone, while terrazzo consists of marble chips (or other stone fragments) mixed with binder and polished smooth. Terrazzo creates the characteristic speckled pattern, whereas marble has natural veining. Both originate from Italian stone craftsmanship.
How do you clean terrazzo without damaging the surface?
Use a damp cloth and, if needed, a mild soap with neutral pH. Avoid anything acidic — vinegar, lemon juice and limescale remover etch the marble surface and leave dull spots. Abrasive cleaners scratch the polished finish.
How big is the mirror surface on a 17 cm table mirror?
The mirror glass is round and takes up most of the 16.5 cm width. It's large enough for your face and hair, but not a full-body mirror. Well suited for makeup, lipstick checks and daily use in the bathroom or entryway.
Is the Kersten marble mirror a good hostess gift?
Yes. A small terrazzo mirror works well as a hostess gift or housewarming present — it's practical without being dull, and the terrazzo pattern makes each piece unique. Wrap it in tissue paper, as the mirror glass should be protected during transport.
Does the table mirror tip over if you lean against it?
No. The terrazzo base weighs 400-500 g and keeps the mirror stable during everyday use. You can place it on the vanity table or bathroom shelf without needing to steady it by hand.
