This lemon lidded jar is made in Italy by a third-generation ceramic family who have perfected their craft since 1965. The yellow color is applied in layers with a brush, meaning no two jars are exactly alike — subtle variations in shade and brushstrokes are proof of authentic craftsmanship. The ceramic is fired at high temperature for durability.

At 21 cm tall, the jar works both as storage for dry goods (tea, coffee, cookies) and as a sculptural piece on a shelf. The vibrant yellow lemon color adds warmth to the kitchen or living room, especially during the Danish winter months when sunlight is scarce. The lid fits snugly, protecting contents from dust.

Care and maintenance

Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Avoid dishwasher and harsh cleaning agents, as these can wear down the hand-painted surface over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the lemon jar for food?

The jar is primarily designed for dry goods such as tea, coffee, cookies, or spices. We do not recommend direct contact with wet or acidic foods, as the surface is hand-painted and not specifically food-safe certified.

What is the difference between hand-painted and machine-made ceramics?

Hand-painted ceramics show visible brushstrokes and slight variations in color tone, making each jar unique. Machine-made ceramics are identical from piece to piece. Hand-painted ceramics require more care in production and are therefore more expensive.

How do I maintain hand-painted Italian ceramics?

Wipe the jar with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid the dishwasher, as high heat and harsh detergents can wear down the hand-painted glaze. Handle with care — ceramics can break if knocked.

Is an Italian lemon jar a good housewarming gift?

Yes, a hand-painted lidded jar is a practical and personal housewarming gift. It can be used in the kitchen from day one and adds color to the new home. Consider pairing it with Italian tea or quality coffee beans inside the jar.

Why does the color vary on hand-painted lemon jars?

Because each jar is painted by hand by a ceramic artist. Brushstrokes, layer thickness, and firing temperature create natural variations. These subtle differences prove your jar is authentic craftsmanship and not mass-produced.

Handmade & unique product

Most of my products are handmade or hand-painted. This means that there may be variations in color, finish, and minor imperfections. These variations are a natural part of the handmade look and make each product unique. Minor differences are therefore not considered defects.
