Quail produces this fox piggy bank in stoneware with a hand-painted finish. The fox sits upright with pointed ears and a bushy tail, and the orange-white glaze is applied manually. This means each piggy bank has its own unique shades — no two are exactly alike. Coins are inserted through the slot on the back, and the base features a rubber stopper for emptying.

Care and Maintenance

Wipe with a lightly damp cloth. Do not submerge in water, as this can wear down the hand-painted glaze.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a stoneware piggy bank and a ceramic piggy bank?

Stoneware is fired at a higher temperature than regular ceramic, making it more durable and less porous. Quail’s stoneware better withstands minor bumps and is denser than standard ceramic.

How do I empty a piggy bank with a rubber stopper?

Turn the piggy bank upside down and gently pull the rubber stopper out from the bottom. Pour out the coins and replace the stopper. Avoid using sharp objects to remove the stopper.

Is a fox piggy bank a good confirmation gift?

Yes, especially if you put some money inside first. The fox has a more mature look than pink piggy banks, making it suitable for teenagers. It can remain in the room for many years to come.

Can I repaint a stoneware piggy bank myself?

It is not recommended. Quail’s glaze is fired at a high temperature, so regular paint will not adhere properly. Also, you would lose the original hand-painted finish that defines the product.

Who is Quail and where are they made?

Quail is a British brand founded in 1991, specializing in hand-decorated stoneware and ceramics. They collaborate with ceramic workshops in Asia, where each piece is hand-painted and glazed by skilled artisans.

Handmade & unique product

Most of my products are handmade or hand-painted. This means that there may be variations in color, finish, and minor imperfections. These variations are a natural part of the handmade look and make each product unique. Minor differences are therefore not considered defects.
