Description
Each knob is individually cast at a family workshop in Moradabad, where brasswork is passed down through generations. The recycled brass develops visible cast marks and slight colour variations — fingerprints of the manual process. The warm golden tone darkens over time and develops patina. A small floral detail that brings Indian craft tradition into modern furniture design.
Care & FAQShow less
Care and Maintenance
Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Brass naturally develops patina over time — accelerate the process with vinegar or preserve the golden tone with clear lacquer.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you install a Doing Goods cabinet knob?
Drill an 8 mm hole through the drawer front or door, thread the bolt through and tighten with the included nut on the back. The thread is 3 cm long and can be shortened with a hacksaw if the front is thinner.
Can brass knobs be used in the kitchen?
Yes, brass knobs work well on kitchen cabinets and drawers. Keep in mind that brass naturally develops patina over time, especially where it is touched frequently. This creates a living surface — or it can be slowed with clear lacquer.
What is the difference between solid and plated brass?
Solid brass — like this knob — is cast in pure alloy all the way through and develops genuine patina. Plated brass is a thin coating on another metal that can wear off. Doing Goods uses 100% recycled solid brass.
How do you care for brass so it doesn't darken?
Wipe with a dry cloth after use. If you want to keep the bright golden tone, you can polish with brass cleaner or seal the surface with clear lacquer. To accelerate patina, vinegar promotes oxidation.
Are Doing Goods knobs sustainable?
Yes. The brass comes from recycled industrial components and is cast at a family workshop in Moradabad, India, where Doing Goods works directly with the craftspeople. This ensures fair wages and good working conditions — and each knob becomes a piece of recycled material with a new purpose.
