This tiger rug is handmade by Indian artisans using 100% dyed wool yarn through a traditional tufting technique. Each tiger is tied and trimmed by hand, giving your rug unique individual variations in expression and pile height. The wool is dyed before production, ensuring the colors last longer. Doing Goods works directly with workshops in India under fair-trade conditions, where artisans receive fair wages and proper working conditions.

Care and maintenance

Vacuum regularly on a low setting with the brush turned off. For stains: gently blot with cold water and mild soap, never rub. Air dry flat.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a tufted and a woven wool rug?

A tufted rug like this has wool fibers tied into a backing, creating a thick, soft surface with height. A woven rug is flatter with yarn woven together. Tufted rugs feel softer underfoot, while woven rugs are typically more durable for high-traffic areas.

Can a wool rug be used in a children's room?

Yes, wool is actually ideal for children's rooms. Wool fibers are naturally dirt-repellent and flame-resistant without chemical treatment. The material dampens noise from play, and wool’s natural elasticity allows the rug to spring back after pressure. Vacuum regularly to keep it fresh.

How do I hang a rug on the wall?

Use a thin wooden strip or curtain rod mounted just above the rug. Fold the top edge of the rug over the strip and secure with fabric tape or sew a pocket on the back. Alternatively, use invisible rug clips evenly spaced along the top. Avoid drilling through the rug itself.

Are Doing Goods rugs a good housewarming gift?

Yes, a handmade rug is a personal housewarming gift that lasts for many years. Doing Goods’ fair-trade production also makes it a meaningful present. The rug comes in a size that fits most rooms, and the tiger motif appeals broadly without being too personal.

Does a wool rug shed a lot at first?

All new wool rugs shed loose fibers during the first weeks – this is completely normal. Vacuum gently 2-3 times a week during the first month, and shedding will significantly decrease. Never cut loose threads, but trim them level with the surface using scissors.

Handmade & unique product

Most of my products are handmade or hand-painted. This means that there may be variations in color, finish, and minor imperfections. These variations are a natural part of the handmade look and make each product unique. Minor differences are therefore not considered defects.
