Description

Hand-knotted and hand-tufted in 100% wool by local craftspeople in India under fair trade certification. Each daisy is individually tufted so the blue flower heads and green stems rise 2–3 cm above the base — a tactile relief you can feel with your palm. A colourful take on the Scandinavian wall rug with roots in Indian craft tradition.

Care and Maintenance

Vacuum on low suction for the first 2–3 weeks to reduce natural shedding. Remove stains with a damp cloth and cold water. For larger stains, dry cleaning is recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a hand-knotted and a hand-tufted rug?+

Hand-knotting means each fibre is tied to the base with knots — this produces a flat, durable rug. Hand-tufting shoots fibres through the base with a tufting gun and creates height and relief. The Daisy rug combines both: a knotted base with tufted flowers that stand 2–3 cm up.

Can the Daisy rug be used as a floor rug?+

Yes, but it works best in low-traffic areas such as the bedroom, beside the bed, or in a reading nook. The tufted flowers are not designed to be walked on daily, and the wool fibres last best with limited wear.

How do you hang the Daisy rug on the wall?+

The back has two sewn-on cords so the rug can be hung directly on a nail or hook without extra fittings or rods. It is relatively light, measuring 50 x 78 cm.

Is the Bongusta Daisy a good christening gift or housewarming gift?+

Yes, it is a durable and personal gift for christenings, baptisms, and housewarming occasions. The colourful look suits the children's room, and the fair trade production makes it a gift with a clear conscience.

Why is my new wool rug shedding?+

Shedding during the first 2–3 weeks is completely normal for hand-tufted wool rugs — loose fibres from the tufting process are released with use. Vacuum on low suction to speed up the process. Shedding decreases naturally over time.
