Doing Goods crafts each Bodhi knob in hand-cast brass with a detailed bamboo texture. Both the knob and nut are solid brass, providing a durable surface that naturally develops patina over time. The 5 cm thread can be adjusted to fit both thin cabinet doors (1-2 cm) and thicker dresser fronts (up to 4-5 cm). The weight of the brass gives a solid feel when opening and closing.

The knob works both as a traditional cabinet knob and as a wall-mounted hook for jewelry, keys, or towels. The bamboo-inspired shape with transverse grooves offers comfortable grip. Since each knob is individually cast, there will be slight variations in surface texture and color tone — no two knobs are exactly alike. Sold individually so you can purchase exactly the quantity you need.

Care and maintenance

Wipe with a damp cloth. Brass naturally develops patina over time — polish with brass cleaner if you prefer a shiny surface. Avoid abrasive cleaners that scratch the surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a solid brass knob and a brass-plated knob?

The Bodhi knob is solid brass all the way through — not just a thin layer over metal or plastic. This means it weighs more, lasts longer, and can be polished again if the surface wears. Brass-plated knobs can wear through to the base material after a few years.

How do I shorten the thread if my cabinet is only 2 cm thick?

Use a hacksaw or mini saw to cut the thread to the desired length. First measure the thickness of your cabinet door/front, add 5-8 mm for the nut, and saw off the rest. File any sharp edges with sandpaper afterwards.

Can the Bodhi brass knob be used as a wall hook?

Yes, screw the knob directly into the wall (use wall plugs if it’s drywall). The thread is long enough to hold firmly, and the weight of the brass makes it stable for light items like keys, jewelry, or a towel. Avoid hanging heavy bags on it.

Is a brass knob a good housewarming gift?

Yes, especially if the recipient is upgrading a kitchen or renovating vintage furniture. Buy 6-8 pieces so they can replace all knobs on a dresser or cabinet row. Consider pairing with a small brass polish as a thoughtful extra.

Does the brass knob turn green over time?

Brass can develop a greenish patina (copper oxide) if exposed to moisture over time — for example in the bathroom. This is a natural process and does not damage the metal. If you prefer shiny brass, polish it with brass cleaner 2-3 times a year.
